About

Jewelry that makes you think of rusting is special. It brings color to your life without fading.

Jewelry that lasts a long time and becomes even more attractive as the texture it acquires over the years. We believe that jewelry will never fade and will be passed down through the ages.

Rusty Thought Jewelry offers a wide range of collections, including one-of-a-kind fine jewelry, fashion jewelry, and unisex jewelry.

Silver is elegant, while diamonds are casual, so even special commemorative pieces can be worn every day without any fuss.

The men's collection has masculine lines and is designed with a supple, rough look in mind, creating an elegant appearance without being too rugged.

From casual to fine, it blends in as part of fashion, making a subtle statement and sometimes even taking center stage.
Masculine silver and fine diamond jewelry are categories that at first glance seem to be polar opposites, but we have received feedback that the different styles of Rusty Thought jewelry go surprisingly well together.
This may be why we like to mix the two styles.
We hope you will enjoy choosing from our wide range of collections to find something that suits your individual tastes.

Ryo Katori

During his childhood, he spent a lot of time under the care of his grandfather, who ran a joinery shop, and his grandmother, who ran a store, and he dreamed of one day weaving his own world, fueled by the things he created with his own hands.
At the time, he was fascinated by the old coins in his grandmother's collection, which became the roots of his current hobby of collecting antiques.

After graduating from high school, she studied the traditional technique of cloisonné at a jewelry vocational school.
Inspired by Cheval's Ideal Palace (Palais idéal du facteur Cheval), he traveled alone across France during his student days.
He visited numerous art museums and was impressed by religious architecture and art.

This journey, which was a series of shocking experiences, including encounters with individual expression, values, and different cultures, sparked a desire to broaden his own world in a foreign land.

After returning to Japan, he worked at an antique shop, where he gained experience and knowledge of Japanese and Western antiques.

After that, he continued to travel to various places, exploring the decorative designs and traditional techniques of shrines, temples, churches, etc.
The motifs used are diverse, including plants and animals from nature, architecture, and the beauty of decay. The collection themes are those that make the deepest impression on the designer during travels or in everyday life, and these are used to design new pieces.

When she was a child, she had strong memories of the snake jewelry her grandmother, who was always by her side, wore, and this was the origin of the delicate snake motif that is one of her signature items.

HISTORY

Started as a men's jewelry brand in 2001.

The first collection features unique black and gold items that are an adaptation of traditional techniques, with gold inlay applied to iron and finished with iron glaze.

In 2005, in addition to the existing men's and unisex collections, a women's collection was released.

From the same year, Yuko Katori became involved in direction and design.

Interested in jewelry, which is close to fashion, she began exhibiting at Paris Fashion Week in 2007, and then at exhibitions in New York.Since then, her unique jewelry has been well-received, and her pieces have begun to be sold in select shops such as jewelry stores and concept stores overseas.

The brand name Rusty Thought was chosen because of the unique texture that develops over time.

The jewelry he creates with his own hands is made with the hope that people will enjoy the changes that occur over time and that it will be enjoyed for a long time.
With the aim of combining traditional techniques with fashion, he works in an atelier near Tokyo that was renovated from an old Japanese house that was about 90 years old.
